Historic Preservation Grant Program

The 2019 grant cycle has closed. The 2020 grant cycle will be open from September 2 to September 27, 2019.

Benton County has established the Historic Preservation Grant (HPG) Program to promote historic preservation or historic programs within the borders of Benton County to increase knowledge and service to residents, and better preserve, exhibit, and interpret historic items.

2019 Grant Recipients

Benton-Franklin Council of Governments
Historical Document Preservation & Archiving project will cover the expense of cataloging, organizing, scanning, and archiving documents currently held by the BFCOG and would work in conjunction with the Washington State Archive’s Central Region Branch.
Grant funds awarded: $10,000

White Bluffs Quilt Museum - Fiber Fest
Fiber Fest is a celebration that will include programs demonstrating the production of textiles to a completed project. Local schools will be invited to participate in the activities. Funds awarded will be for advertising, speakers/demonstrators, and administration.
Grant funds awarded: $1,200

White Bluffs Quilt Museum - Preservation & Display of Historic Textiles
This project is a continuation of previous projects for the Quilt Index as well as supplies to preserve and display historic quilts and other textiles.
Grant funds awarded: $3,382

City of Kennewick Historic Preservation Commission - Survey & Documentation of East Kennewick Homes
This project would survey 50 East Kennewick homes to be submitted for identification of eligibility to include in local, regional, and state historic registers. Surveys would be conducted by a consultant, but Commission members would volunteer.
