July 14, 2020 at 9:00 AM for an ordinance relating to adopting legislation to authorize a sales and use tax for affordable and supportive housing. The proposed ordinance will provide the county with a share of revenues otherwise credited to the State.
 
NOTICE OF HEARING
BEFORE THE BENTON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS in the matter of the Department of Human Services:

AN ORDINANCE relating to adopting legislation to authorize a sales and use tax for affordable and supportive housing pursuant to Substitute House Bill 1406, codified at RCW 82.14.540. The proposed ordinance will not increase the sales and use tax paid by Benton County residents but will instead provide the county with a share of the revenues otherwise credited to the State.  Effective Date – July 29, 2020. 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on July 14, 2020 at 9:00 am in the Commissioner’s Conference Room. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT all testimony for or against the proposed ordinance will be taken at this time. All concerned persons may appear telephonically and present any support or objections to the proposed ordinance.

BASED ON THE TESTIMONY presented at the public hearing, the Board of County Commissioners may approve, disapprove or make changes to the proposed ordinance. Any information submitted to the Benton County is subject to disclosure under Washington State Public Records Act (RCW Chapter 42.56) and all other applicable law that may require the release of the documents to the public.
